Club Car Onward Maintenance

Club Car Onward Maintenance Guide

The Club Car Onward is Club Car's personal/leisure buggy – the one you'll see customised for home, resort and estate use, in 2 and 4-passenger forms. This guide covers the routine maintenance that keeps an Onward looking and running its best.

The Onward comes in 48V lead-acid, lithium-ion and petrol forms on Club Car's rust-resistant aluminium frame. Battery care (or engine care on petrol), plus cleaning and tyre checks, cover most owner maintenance.

We service, repair and source parts for the Onward and any other make and model – get in touch.

Routine Care & Maintenance

Batteries & charging

How you look after the batteries makes the biggest difference to an electric buggy's life. If you have a lithium (LiFePO4) pack it's virtually maintenance-free – charge when convenient, partial charges are fine. For lead-acid batteries: charge after every use, avoid deep discharges, keep the water above the plates (top up with distilled water after charging), keep the tops clean, and always charge in a well-ventilated space away from sparks or flames.

Everyday care & cleaning

Tyres

Check pressures regularly and take care inflating – these small tyres fill fast and over-inflate easily. Keep pressures even across the buggy for stable handling.

Lithium Upgrade

Many Club Car Onward owners upgrade from lead-acid to a lithium pack for lighter weight, faster charging and near zero maintenance. We carry out lithium conversions – see our Lithium Battery Upgrades page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I choose lithium or lead-acid for an Onward?
Lithium is lighter, charges faster and needs no watering, which suits personal use well; lead-acid is lower cost up front. We can advise or carry out a lithium upgrade.
How do I keep the Onward's finish and seats nice?
Mild soapy water on panels and seats, avoid harsh solvents, and rinse off grass and debris. Check fixings as you clean.
My Onward's lights stay dimly lit after turning off – is that a problem?
On some Onward models a faint glow can indicate a grounding or residual-voltage issue in the lighting circuit. Have it checked if it persists.
