EZGO RXV Maintenance

EZGO RXV Maintenance Guide

Now discontinued – the EZGO RXV is no longer manufactured, but it remains widely used and we fully support existing owners with servicing, repairs and parts.

The EZGO RXV is one of the most common golf buggies on UK courses and estates. Whether yours is a 48-volt AC electric model or the 13.5 hp petrol version, a little regular care keeps it safe, reliable and running sweetly for years. This guide covers the routine maintenance an RXV owner can do between professional services.

The RXV earned its reputation on an efficient AC drivetrain and its patented AutoBrake system, which applies the parking brake automatically and uses regenerative braking to put charge back into the batteries. Those features are brilliant in use, but they also mean a few RXV-specific checks are worth knowing about.

If anything here is beyond what you want to take on yourself, we service and repair the RXV – and every other make and model – just get in touch.

Routine Care & Maintenance

Batteries & charging

How you look after the batteries makes the biggest difference to an electric buggy's life. If you have a lithium (LiFePO4) pack it's virtually maintenance-free – charge when convenient, partial charges are fine. For lead-acid batteries: charge after every use, avoid deep discharges, keep the water above the plates (top up with distilled water after charging), keep the tops clean, and always charge in a well-ventilated space away from sparks or flames.

Everyday care & cleaning

Tyres

Check pressures regularly and take care inflating – these small tyres fill fast and over-inflate easily. Keep pressures even across the buggy for stable handling.

Lithium Upgrade

Many EZGO RXV owners upgrade from lead-acid to a lithium pack for lighter weight, faster charging and near zero maintenance. We carry out lithium conversions – see our Lithium Battery Upgrades page.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often should I service an EZGO RXV?
Give an electric RXV a basic check every few months and a full service once a year, or more often with heavy use. Petrol models also need regular oil and filter attention. We can service yours or advise on a schedule.
Can I fit lithium batteries to an RXV?
Yes. Many RXV owners upgrade from lead-acid to a lithium (LiFePO4) pack for lighter weight, faster charging and virtually maintenance-free running. We carry out lithium upgrades – see our Lithium Battery Upgrades page.
The RXV won't move – what should I check first?
Check the key is on and a direction is selected, then the battery charge and the battery connections (clean and tight). If it still won't move it may be the solenoid, key switch or controller – that's a job for a technician.
Is the EZGO RXV still made?
The RXV has been discontinued by the manufacturer, but it remains extremely common and well supported. We maintain, repair and source parts for existing owners.
