Now discontinued – the EZGO TXT is no longer manufactured, but it remains widely used and we fully support existing owners with servicing, repairs and parts.
The EZGO TXT is a workhorse of a golf buggy – simple, rugged and found everywhere from golf courses to holiday parks. This guide covers the everyday maintenance a TXT owner can do themselves, for both the 48-volt electric and the 13.5 hp petrol versions.
The electric TXT runs a 48V DC system (six 8-volt batteries) with a PowerWise charger, while the petrol model uses a single-cylinder 401cc engine. Keeping on top of the batteries (or the oil and filters on petrol) is what keeps a TXT dependable.
Prefer to leave it to us? We service, repair and source parts for the TXT and any other make and model.

How you look after the batteries makes the biggest difference to an electric buggy's life. If you have a lithium (LiFePO4) pack it's virtually maintenance-free – charge when convenient, partial charges are fine. For lead-acid batteries: charge after every use, avoid deep discharges, keep the water above the plates (top up with distilled water after charging), keep the tops clean, and always charge in a well-ventilated space away from sparks or flames.
Check pressures regularly and take care inflating – these small tyres fill fast and over-inflate easily. Keep pressures even across the buggy for stable handling.
Many EZGO TXT owners upgrade from lead-acid to a lithium pack for lighter weight, faster charging and near zero maintenance. We carry out lithium conversions – see our Lithium Battery Upgrades page.
| Symptom | Possible cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Vehicle will not move | Key off / no direction selected, or batteries discharged | Turn key on, select direction, check and charge batteries. |
| Loose or corroded battery connections | Clean and tighten; protect terminals. | |
| Runs then cuts out (petrol) | Fuel, filter or ignition fault | Check fuel and filters; have ignition checked by a technician. |
| Won't hold charge | Ageing or failed battery | Load test and replace batteries that won't hold charge, or upgrade to lithium. |
